Course Introduction
Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) have become fundamental to the practice of planning, management and the operation of a business as a basic of risk management. This was recognized as proactive way of managing hazard and risk, so that we will able to control the identified hazard before it become the route cause of accident. This training program will give the participant skill and knowledge on the best way of developing HIRARC activities at workplace. This HIRARC is part of regulatory requirement that safety management standard, Occupational Health & Safety Management System and OHSAS 18001 required it to be done prior certification.
Objective Of The Course

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand different types of hazards that presence in the workplace
  • Learn how to effectively identify hazards in the workplace
  • Understand the main occupational hazard groups and the health risks that certain workplace hazard pose
  • Evaluate and risk assessment associated with the identified hazards and make recommendations on eliminating or reducing the risks of these hazards
  • Determine the appropriate hazards control measures and assess the effectiveness of the control measures taken
  • Appreciate the importance of hazards identification process as a means to avoid accidents in the workplace

Certification & Validity

Having completed and passed the course, participants will be awarded with Certificate of Training. Without retraining, knowledge might be forgotten while skills may deteriorate rapidly when not being used / practiced. Therefore, yearly retraining is very much recommended.

What is HIRARC

HIRARC is broken down to 3 elements which is HI – Hazard Identification, RA – Risk Assessment and RC – Risk Control which is the basic of occupational safety and health (OSH) in achieving the objective of  it. Furthermore, HIRARC is a requirement by law under  OSHA and regulations. It is the main core for all OSH personnel, safety committee, etc. Before analyzing, it is important to able to classify hazards, danger and risk.

Hazard Identification In HIRARC

Hazard Identification – recognizing items or materials which are potential threat that may cause injury or harm to people.

Risk Assessment In HIRARC

Risk Assessment – The ability to analyze the possibilities of a person getting harm or injured when exposed to the hazards and evaluate how low or high the damage would be.

Risk Control In HIRARC

Risk Control – measures or action taken to eliminate the risk or minimize the risk of the person exposed to the hazards.
