Course Introduction
This is a 2-days program specially designed for a participant who is working at activities where slinging & ringing is required in the crane operation including working at height. The program is aimed at helping participants understand the hazard and risk working at height and how to prevent from falling accident including to enhance the competency of rigger in rigging & slinging activities. Working at height has been an issue due to highest number of accident. According to SOCSO 2007 reports in “Person falling” there are 13417 reported cases with 228 reported fatalities. Knowledge, skill and attitude are very important in order to prevent falling accident with the used of proper safety hardness, proper and safe rigging & slinging methodology. The scope of this training is to provide a details understanding of rigging & slinging work systems that needs to be implemented to ensure safety of the worker while working on Tower or any other high places and craning activities.
Objective Of The Course

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the OSHA & FMA legislation for crane operation
  • Understanding the basic safety crane operation.
  • Understanding on the basic lifting equipments.
  • Able to perform hand signal & communication
  • Understanding and able to do rope & knot.
  • Understand rigging & slinging basics, including the importance of “sling angle”

Assessment

Participants are required to sit for theory and practical assessment, which consist of 90% on practical assessment and 10% on written assessment

Certification & Validity

Having completed and passed the course, participants will be awarded with Certificate of Training.

Importance Of Slinging And Rigging

Workers who are industrially involved with hoisting and rigging activities should be undergoing proper training as it can be extremely dangerous if not handle properly. Having a competent and qualified rigger ensures the safety and capable to accomplish the job efficiently.
Having knowledge such as weigh of load and rigging slings hardware, the capacity, the maximum load of hoisting rope,  and various equipments. Having awareness of other elements that could affect the hoist, capacity, rigging, lifting and landing loads are part of the safety practices.

All these practices – slinging and rigging safety, rigging methods for slinging are part of the basic training knowledge.
