With the increased number of accidents at workplace, Malaysia are facing greater challenges to monitor OSH requirements, workers safety and health issues. In the SME strategic plan 2020, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) target is to increase the number of OSH practitioners in Malaysia. Therefore, DOSH take initiative to manifest competent an OSH-Coordinator (OSH-C), a representative of safety practitioners in the industries to monitor OSH requirements. Each employee required to appoint at least one OSH-Coordinator to manage Occupational Safety and Health requirements, assist employer by reporting OSH statistic and performance to DOSH, promote safety culture at workplace and take reasonable action pertaining to OSH compliance.

Importance of OSH-Coordinator in the workplace

OSH Coordinator is responsible for occupational safety and health in the workplace. Ensure zero accidents in the workplace, including managing environmental issues that cause problems to our environment.

To determine the OSH-Coordinator qualification, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) has decided that the OSH Coordinator must be someone who has completed the prescribed OSH-C course conducted by a training centre registered with Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
